Present Tense Present Perfect Present perfect tense is used to: separate the actions that was done but may happen again in the future Ex: She and her friends have eaten at the cafeteria several times describe recently completed actions that influence things happening in the present. Ex: The sun has risen, so you have to wake up. Present Continuous Structure: Subject + to be (in simple present tense) + verb + “ing”. Present continuous tense is used to: describe the actions that are happening right now Ex: I am running around the school right now describe the temporary actions that may not be happening right now but are not completed yet Ex: The car is being repaired, so we have to walk to the park. Present Perfect Continuous Structure: Subject + to have (in simple present tense) + “been” + verb + “ing”. Present perfect continuous tense is used to: describe the actions that begun in the past and continue into the present (same as use 1 of present perfect tense) Ex: I have been feeling sick since the morning, so I didn’t go to school.
